Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Exegete collects, why, and what choices you have. We keep data collection deliberately minimal.

What we collect

• Purchase information. When you buy the Course, our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy, collects your name, email, and payment details and issues your license key. Lemon Squeezy acts as merchant of record and processes payment data under its own privacy policy; we do not see or store your full payment card details.
• License activation. To unlock the Course we validate your license key with Lemon Squeezy’s License API and store a signed, httpOnly session cookie on your device (valid 90 days). This cookie only records that you activated successfully — it does not track your activity.
• Email (optional). If you request the free Covenant by email, we collect the address you provide to send it and occasional related notes. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Reading progress. Your lesson progress is stored locally in your browser (localStorage), not on our servers. Clearing your browser data clears it.
• Analytics. If enabled, we use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Plausible) to count page views and aggregate funnel events. This does not identify individual visitors or use tracking cookies.
• Attribution. We capture UTM parameters from the link you arrived through so we can understand which ads work. These are stored in your browser and passed to checkout; they contain no personal information.

How we use it

To deliver and support the Course, process your purchase and refunds, send materials you requested, and improve the product. We do not sell your personal information.

Third parties

We share only what is necessary with the providers that run the service: Lemon Squeezy (payments and licensing), our hosting provider (Vercel), and, if enabled, our analytics and email providers. Each processes data under its own policy.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie: your login/session cookie after activation. It is required to keep the Course unlocked and cannot be disabled while you use member areas. We do not use advertising cookies.

Your choices

You can log out to clear your session cookie, clear localStorage to erase progress, unsubscribe from any email, and request access to or deletion of information we hold about you by emailing hello@exegete.church. We honor applicable data-protection rights (including under GDPR and CCPA where they apply).

Data retention

Purchase and licensing records are retained as long as needed for support, tax, and legal obligations. Email-list data is kept until you unsubscribe.
