The AI Sermon Prep Covenant
Every pastor using AI needs a line — written down, decided in advance, ideally shared with your board. Here is the line, drawn. You will never regret being the pastor who drew it before the controversy instead of after.
A Covenant Regarding AI in Preaching Ministry
As a preacher of God's Word, I make the following commitments to God, to my church, and to the integrity of the pulpit:
- The sermon is mine. AI may assist my research; it will never write my sermon, my outline's central claim, or the words I preach.
- Prayer is the center. No tool replaces prayerful listening. My preparation begins and ends before God, not before a screen.
- Every citation is verified. I will never quote a source from the pulpit that I have not confirmed is real. If I cannot verify it, I will not say it.
- My people get my voice. Illustrations from my life, application for our church, and the burden God gives me — these cannot be delegated and will not be.
- I will be transparent. I am willing to explain how I use these tools to anyone who asks, including from the platform.
- The tool serves the calling. The hours this tool returns to me will go to prayer, people, and presence — not merely to more production.

The Covenant is Lesson 1.3 of the full course.
Exegete teaches you to build the research agent behind it — one that’s forbidden, by design, from ever writing your sermon.
