Start a JSTOR search with a question before you know the right terms

JSTOR's AI-assisted dynamic search reads the meaning and context of a broad question, suggests related ideas, vocabulary and potentially relevant sources across JSTOR, and shows how it interpreted your query. JSTOR says it does not evaluate sources or draw conclusions for you; you still read the original work. It is rolling out at participating institutions that enable JSTOR's on-platform AI features. Pastor use: through a library that provides JSTOR, open a theology or church-history question this way, then read the articles yourself.

Our rule: AI helps with study, research and admin. The pastor still studies, verifies and writes the sermon.

Run an agentic review that checks a PDF for logic gaps and ungrounded claims

Google Research opened Deep Review publicly after conference pilots: an agentic verifier that segments a document, checks logical consistency and claim grounding, and synthesizes findings. Two free reviews per week (higher volume via Gemini API). Pastor use: stress-test a policy PDF or staff brief you already wrote — not to draft it.

Ask Google Scholar a detailed research question and see why each paper fits

Scholar Labs is a Google Scholar search mode for detailed research questions. It identifies the question's key topics, aspects and relationships, searches Scholar, scans the results, and gives a brief description of how each paper might help; you can ask follow-up questions to dig deeper. It is available to all logged-in users and supports questions in all languages. Pastor use: find journal articles on a passage or historical question, then read the papers, not just the descriptions.

Verify a theological quotation before you trust an AI citation

A developer guide walks through treating LLM prose as unverified: resolve author/work/edition, compare exact wording to a versioned corpus release, read neighboring context, confirm tradition attribution, and keep mismatches for review. Pastor use: before a study handout or newsletter quotes the Fathers or a commentary via AI, run this checklist (or an immutable citation check) so a real-looking citation is not a misquote.

Verify a bibliography and find papers that actually support a claim

Researchers use AccuraCite to cross-check citations against multiple academic databases, flag retractions, and — when finding sources — confirm a paper's abstract supports the claim, not just a matching title. Pastor use: check a study before it goes into a class handout, or find a real paper behind a statistic. The free plan includes 50 credits.
